Brussels, Belgium
 27- 29 July, 2008

Under the framework of
The Past , The Present and The Future
the event provided a platform for individual connections and showcasing the impact of the network we are part of.
At the heart of where the European Union now stands, AIESEC has celebrated 60 years of fostering cultural understanding amongst nations, modeling the vision of the would-be European Union. Over 300 leaders from business and civil society along with past and present AIESEC members gathered for this event in Brussels, which was the home of AIESEC’s international secretariat for many decades.

The event was an extraordinary networking and creative gathering, balanced with nostalgia, friendship, tangible conversations and fun.

A graphic facilitator captured the key themes of the discussions throughout the day, and a high quality agenda was developed in cooperation with two leading leadership development organizations.

Alumni Engagement- one of the highlight of the event!
  • Alumnus Martin Bean (PAI 86/87) was the chair of the celebration
  • Alumni from two leadership development organizations Center for Creative Leadership ( Rudi Plettinx – AIESEC in Belgium 80s) and Future Considerations (James Shaw – AI 97/98 and Jarda Dokoupil – AI 06/07) supported the agenda development and facilitation
  • Alumni hosted working groups on Sunday: Jean Choplin (PAI 49/50) about International Alumni Foundation; Bernd Thomas (PAI 58/59) about Alumni Policy; Hiro Kinashi (AI – 68/69) about Alumni Associations
Why they value AIESEC

“You have been a front runner of globalization and the values that your organization embodies are more relevant than ever. Cross-cultural understanding and entrepreneurship education contribute to a peaceful development of the world.” Günter Verheugen, Vice-President of the European Commission recognized AIESEC’s relevance in his opening speech

“Skills of leadership, communication, cultural understanding, problem solving, team building, ladies and gentleman those are the skills that employers are demanding in the 21 st Century to be relevant. Those are the skills that AIESEC has always taught and trust me, those skills are just as needed and just in demand today as they were right in the very beginning of AIESEC.”
Martin Bean, General Manager, Education Products Group at Microsoft Corporation; PAI 1986/87, was a chair of the conference
