INTRODUCTION

The event is called Embassy day. Embassy day is the day that has been set aside by AIESEC University of Zimbabwe for students in higher learning circles to get to interact with the international world. It would be an opportunity for students to explore the study opportunities, cultural appreciation and what is in offer in anticipation of exchange. WHAT ARE THE RESULTS EXPECTED?

With the activities surrounding embassy day, we aim at four different results:

  1. Empower the delegates and students to the forum to experience diversity among different cultures.
  2. Profiling how AIESEC and its Partners can contribute to the awareness of sustainable development through cultural exchange and educational programs.
  3. Increase the number and quality of our learning experience and traineeship.
  4. Start an international reflection on the current involvement of AIESEC in world issues that youth will address in future, and have a clearer idea on our external profile as an organization.

HOW EMBASSIES WILL PARTICIPATE

The participation of Embassies on this day will be in three-fold. The uniqueness of this event lies on the fact that Embassies will bring there marketing team(s) and will be given stands/booths to market on different opportunities in their countries. The following are the phases

FIRST PHASE

Ambassadors will come at the University of Zimbabwe for the launch of Embassy Day on which topics on Business Expansion and Strategies, Global Sustainable Development, Economic Development, HIV/AIDS and cultural appreciation will be highlighted to mention just but a few. To this effect selected speakers will be given topics to come and present on the day.

SECOND PHASE

This will run in parallel with the first phase. The marketing/ human resources personal will be exhibiting for both students and company presenting on behalf of their countries. The role of the marketing team is to market their country in line with the theme of the event and relevant topics for the day. Marketing might even entail promotion of one’s food and or culture. To this effect necessary attention will be given to the request made by each country so that their method of marketing succeeds. Representative of countries will also tour the exhibition stands.

THIRD PHASE

After the launch delegates will then be invited to a special lunch at one of the local hotels were interaction between ambassadors and the business community would start. This platform is solely created for the business community to explore ways in development of business strategy and expansion. Speaker sponsors will be given an opportunity to address the delegates

WHY NOW?

It is easy to despair at Zimbabwe’s physical realities and discard it as a hopelessly poor third world country-a nation without hope or a future. However as AIESEC, we do believe that Zimbabwe is beautiful, majestic and it has extremely good potential. Life has a meaning in this country were struggle is needed to survive on a day-to-day basis. The most beautiful thing is that a futuristic Zimbabwe is emerging somewhere out of the dusty villages and polluted, congested metropolitan centers. Like the bird phoenix which rose from its own ashes. In order to achieve the change we want to see in society, a definite solution lies in working together with both internal and external forces.
