Youth in institutions of higher and secondary education are in a unique position to assimilate this information due to their constant engagement in learning. Coupled with this, as future leaders of their societies, the responsibility of change rests heavily on them. Youth Conference: Don’t be AfrAIDS!
Bandung, 31 January 2009 - Bandung is the city with highest number of people suffering from HIV- AIDS in West Java. In the previous 2008, the number increased until 50%. That’s what has been said by Vice of Chief Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS (KPA), dr. Rita Ferita during AIESEC Youth Seminar: Don’t be AfrAIDS! In 31 st January 2009 at Audio Visual Room, University of Padjadjaran. The aim of this conference is to build youth awareness of HIV- AIDS and reduce the prejudice of people who are living with HIV- AIDS. Speakers of this conference are dr. Bagus Rahmat Prabowo, PMTCT Consultant from UNICEF, dr. Rita Ferita Vice of Chief Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS (KPA), and activists from HIV- AIDS NGOs in Bandung. This conference also attended by Chief of Harian KPA, Drs. H. Soekarno MM., Board of Advisor AIESEC LC Bandung, Mr. Deddy Hilman and Mr. Ramdhan Panigoro, participants from China, Taiwan, Uganda and Korea, and around 100 students from various universities in Bandung.
