History

There are four founding fathers of AIESEC in Indonesia, they are Mr. Abdul Gani, Mr. Patia Mamontang, and 2 other. The four of them was offered by the faculty to attend one of AIESEC’s conferences which were being held at Osaka, Japan. After attending that conference, the four of them was really interested to start AIESEC in Indonesia, and because the four of them are student at faculty of economics, so the first AIESEC in Indonesia was in Faculty of Economics.

After that, the “Malari” incident happened which causes instability of politic which resulted in termination of AIESEC. After 10 years of vacuum, the faculty once again offered Mr. Adi Zakaria and Ms. Ita Budi to attend AIESEC Conference in Netherland. After they came back to Indonesia, they decided to start AIESEC in Indonesia once again. Next, they decided to attend another AIESEC conference in Avignon, France in 1984. But, before they arrived in the France, Mr. Adi and Ms. Ita Budi was given a training about exchange system and other system in AIESEC as well. After two weeks of training, both of them and member of AIESEC Netherland went to France to attend the conference.

AIESEC Indonesia existence was being recognized for the first time in the international forum. Ms. Ita Budi was AIESEC Indonesia first MCP. In the development, Ms. Ita Budi was helped by Mr. Eddie J Soebari and Mr. Asoka. The first local Committee is AIESEC Local Committee Universitas Indonesia (1984).
