AIESEC,
the world’s largest student-run organization, has over 60 years of experience in developing
high-potential students into globally-minded responsible leaders in partnership with business and
higher education. AIESEC’s innovative educational program consists of unmatched leadership
experiences and global internships. In Slovenia, AIESEC is developing leaders since more than 57
years. Right now we have our entities in Ljubljana, Kranj and Maribor where together around 200
members are working.
Few words of history
AIESEC as an organization was established after Second World War with vision of making peace
through building common understanding between nations. The founding members of AIESEC started
to build the organization between 1946 and 1948, but a clear identity emerged in 1948 and
later in 1949 at the Stockholm Congress. 89 students participated in the Exchange Program in 1949
and Exchange was defined as the core activity of the organization. In the coming years more and
more countries joined the network and in a very short period AIESEC became global by being present
on all continents.

The way we do it (essence of our actions)
AIESEC provides its members with an integrated development experience comprised of
leadership
opportunities,
international internships and participation in a
global learning environment.
Leadership
Each year around 10.000 young people are taking leadership opportunity in AIESEC. They are
leading teams working on concrete projects. Thanks to that our members can in practise develop
their competencies. By working in teams, AIESECers have also opportunity to observe how their
leader is managing people and can also take leadership opportunities later . Before starting
leadership experience, our members are receiving knowledge about how to manage and motivate people,
how to plan their work and execute it during sessions and workshops . Because AIESEC is an
organization run only by students, all members have also the opportunity to manage entities of the
organization on local, national or international level.
International internships

From the beginning of existance AIESEC is building intercultural understanding between nations
through organization of international internships. In each country where AIESEC is present our
members are looking for students interested in international exchange experience and also companies
and organizations looking for high talented students from abroad for work. Our Interns are working
from 6 to 72 weeks in international corporations, non-govermental organizations, schools and
govermental institutions. |

Global learning environment
To develop the competencies of our members and to enlarge their knowledge, we are
using different methods of learning. Each method used is based on needs and situation.

Conferences & Seminars
We run more than 470 conferences each year at national, regional and global level
open for all mambers.

Team Experience
We are doing main of our activities in teams to develop our leadership
skills, to get to know how to cooperate with other people and to gain organizational
skills.

Mentoring
Relationship that helps mentees (our members) to find their path to personal
development. Mentors are managers from companies cooperating with us and former member with
experience (Alumni).

Individual discovery and reflection
We generate spaces where people reflect in what they are learning, what they have
learnt, what they have achieved and what is still waiting for beeing
developed.

Virtual Spaces
We are using our Intranet MyAIESEC.net to gain and share knowledge with members of
our organization from whole globe. We are also using other virtual tools, for example to run
virtual seminars and meetings.

Learning Circles
We make discussions in order to talk around specific themes: CSR (Corporate Social
Responsibility), Children Rights, Entrepeneurship, Leadership.
