Types of InternshipsInternships through AIESEC have a duration from 6 weeks to 18 months depending on the type of Internship. Apart from the latter division of the internships, we divide AIESEC internships into paid and non-paid. In case of PAID internships, you get a salary that covers your expenses for accommodation, food and some pocket money, so you can have a decent living during your internship. In the case of NON-PAID internships, there is an option where you are offered a stipendium, meaning that you do not have to pay for your accommodation and you are given some food during your internship. However, it can also happen that you would have to cover your expenses yourself, however, in this situation we speak about development internships in countries that living expenses are comparing to European prices very cheap - e.g. Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia. These are the basic types if internships: Development Internships - are often working for NGOs related to a wide variety of issues in community development such as environmental projects and social issues, taking place in developing countries. These internships vary in length as well as coverage of the living expenses, and the case of a stipendium is very often practised.
