Internships through AIESEC Berlin HU
AIESEC's key work is to send students abroad on internships so that they get to know other cultures, develop intercultutal competences and also have the chance to collect work experience. We offer four different types of internships: Management traineeships- business internships for example in marketing or finance Technical Traineeships- internships for computer scientists Educational Traineeship- teaching languages (often english) but also other subjects f.e. in primary schools, also supporting projects in universities Developpment Traineeships- something like voluntary services, sometimes in NGOs (Non Governmental Organization, doing administrational work or coordinating projects/ bulding up cooperations), but also working in schools or orphanages As AIESEC exists in 107 countries of the world, you also have the possibilty to get an internship in one of those 107 countries. But unfortunately, not all of these countries are very active and offer a lot of internships. For example the USA, Australia or New Zealand offer only very little traineeships and it is therfore almost impossible for us to send you there. Active countries are for example India, China or Poland. The best way to find an AIESEC internship is to be open-minded towards different countries, to be willing to go to any country in one continent or even all over the world- than you wil definitely find an internship with us! Interested?
To get an internship with us, there is one thing that is important to know. Our organization is based on mutuality, that means that in every country and in every local committee, students work on finding internships and supporting other students to come to their country. That means that if you want to get an internship that other students have organized, we want you to do the same thing here in Berlin. So, if you are interested in getting an internship, join our Local Committee for half a year, work in one of our five teams and get to know our organization. Once you are a member, you can apply for an internship. You will then have to participate in an Assessment Centre and if you are succesful, you can start planning your stay abroad. Before you leave, it is also required that you take part in a preparation seminar through AIESEC that is calles ICLS (Inter Cultural Learning Seminar). To get more information, about
Does the internship cost anything?
We don't take as much money as commercial organizations do. Still, you will have to pay a fee of 250 Euros. 60 Euros are for the ICLS as well as the Re-Integration Seminar, so that's 120 Euros in total. You don't have to pay for the training but for the location, where the workshop takes place as well as food and drinks. Then there is a deposit of 30 Euros that you get back as soon as you send us a report of your stay abroad. 35 Euros go to AIESEC International for getting access to the international database where you can look for internships and the last 65 Euros go the Local Committee for administration costs. How can I pay for the living costs that I have while I am abroad? If you do a Management or a Technical Traineeship, you will receive regular payments that are usually enough to live in the country where you work. Educational Traineeships are not always paid for an Developpment Traineeships are usually not. In many cases, you will be offered accomodation and food so that you won't have many extra costs during your stay abroad. If your internship is required by your university, you can apply for financial support for the travel costs at the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst). That is usually quite easy when you go abroad with AIESEC. They refund travel costs up to 1000 Euros, depending on how far you are going away from Germany. |
