Prof Sangmeister is a renowned economist currently leading the development politics group at the University of Heidelberg. In addition to having taught Economics during decades, he is a widely cited researcher who has extensively covered many aspects of Latin American development. On basis of his impressive record, Prof Sangmeister is uniquely qualified to deliver a superb keynote speech about human capital and its implications on innovation and productivity.

"The educational situation in Latin America"

University of Heidelberg

Ms Schönstedt is a talented young economist working with Prof Sangmeister on development economics. In her short career, she has already worked on numerous investigations and humanitarian projects in various countries, which makes her an ideal speaker who will give an overview of the current status of Latin American education systems.



Christian Egli                            

"Access to education and social stratification in Latin America"

University of St. Gallen

Mr Egli recently completed his studies at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) with an award-winning thesis about Colombian and Mexican systems of higher education and their link with socioeconomic inequality. In addition, he has lived and worked in Mexico, which gives him a unique perspective on Latin American problems. Today, Christian Egli will present us his insights on education systems, social stratification and elite formation.
