CONTRIBUTION
Above and beyond being an extremely active and valuable AIESEC member, with countless
contributions to his name, Charlie was instrumental in establishing AIESEC Hungary into a proper,
separate, legally accepted association. Before him AIESEC Hungary only existed as one subgroup of a
larger youth organisation. The fact that this feat was established while socialism was in full
swing in Hungary with extreme distrust to both international and youth organisations makes his
achievement truly outstanding.
As the alumni coordinator in the
AI team 84-85, Gabor persisted in the idea of refounding the alumni association. He took over the
alumni operations from the previous AI team and he kept working on the alumni association idea
after he left AI in August 1985 and insisted for an independent alumni association until October
1986 when the AAI 1986 Budapest congress was held with Gabor as OCP.
