"Derek Small is an AIESEC legend who gives freely of his time, and in many cases his own money to support AIESEC. We are delighted to see Derek enter the Hall of Fame in recognition for the motivational leadership, visionary guidance and sense of purpose he has given so many young people."

- Laura Johnson
President, AIESEC UK

Poland, 2006 - All over the world, when you ask AIESEC members who has inspired them most in AIESEC, many of them will answer - Derek Small. Derek has spoken at over 60 AIESEC conferences across Europe and has worked with numerous local, national and international teams.

Derek is an independent business coach in culture change and leadership revolutions for CEOs and top international management teams from leading global organizations.

Using this expertise, he has worked with AIESEC International, local and national teams in team development, vision setting and planning. The positive attitudes that have been stirred by this process have filtered down to the whole organization. AIESEC in the United Kingdom recognizes the contribution that this has made to their success by nominating him for this award.

His involvement with AIESEC started when he was part of the Covey Leadership Centre in the UK and was invited to speak at the European Leadership Development Seminar. Being a firm believer in the importance of developing leadership in young people, Derek never looked back.

For over a decade now, he has helped AIESEC members discover their potential and passions and is always available as a source of perspective, knowledge and support. Through his referrals and endorsements, he has opened many a door for AIESEC.

He has been recognized for the invaluable contribution that he has made to AIESEC by numerous countries, including AIESEC UK, Germany and Denmark. Derek is one of the most passionate supporters of AIESEC - even though he was never a member of AIESEC himself.

Derek is also a committed husband and father. Through their combined drama and music lessons for young people and adults, Derek and his wife Maggie have touched the local communities and people around them.
