President, AIESEC Canada

Turkey, 2007 - The many members of AIESEC in Canada who know Ruth have a smile on their face when they talk about the way Ruth embodies leadership for them. She lives the AIESEC values in her everyday life and wherever she interacts with people, be it in her involvement as a member of the Board of Directors of AIESEC in Canada for six years until December 2006, or the plenty of other social and business engagements she pursues. Her presence transforms every meeting she goes to with the engaging passion into something truly meaningful and her background as specialist in international trade and investment with service experience as a trade oficial with Foreign Afiairs and International Trade Canada, and as a federal negotiator at the Foreign Investment Review Agency have enabled her to provide AIESEC in Canada with the needed professional point of view, especially with regards to the exchange area.

As the Head of Corporate Outreach at Export Development Canada, Ruth has made sure that EDC continues its platinum level sponsorship with AIESEC in Canada, and she has made a significant personal donation as well. In order to honor Ruth's engagement and contribution, AIESEC in Canada now considers her as alumna of the organization, something that is only too fitting considering the involvement and support Ruth has also provided to the area of alumni networks and engagement. "AIESEC is the curriculum for developing the next generation of Canadian international leaders. Who wouldn't want to be caught up in such a venture? That's why I am still on the Board. (...) my "AIESEC experience" has been one of the great joys of my volunteer life", she says and participates in her next AIESEC conference to deliver a training session, and coaches AIESEC in Canada’s Regional Directors through sales and coaching trips. And leaves every day more smiles on the faces of members.
