Exciting Updates from the AIESEC International Office
|
Dear All,
Greetings from AIESEC International!
As the AI 0910 team, we have successfully finished transition which was very smooth and
effective, finalized our year plan with very ambitious targets, delivered International Congress
2009, started with country visits and much more. We are very appreciative of all the hard work of
the AI 0809 team under Juan’s leadership. As an organization we definitely are standing on the
shoulders of giants. In the last term, AIESEC witnessed the kind of growth it has never experienced
before and more importantly growth in every facet of the organization.
International Congress 2009 was a resounding success and we are excited about the next phase
of our term. AIESEC in Malaysia and the Congress Committee did a fantastic job in putting up the
conference. The conference was truly historic and paved the way for AIESEC becoming bigger and
better.
As the generation of AIESECers who will lead the organization in 2010 we have immense
responsibility to not only achieve AIESEC 2010 but take the organization to a point where it can
dream bigger than it ever has, where it can look deep within and challenge its very core to emerge
stronger, bigger and better than it ever has been. And we are fortunate as it has fallen upon us to
be this great generation!
As we stand at the threshold of great change, we realize that what lies in front of us is no
ordinary task and it will need the very best from us to redefine achievement for AIESEC. We look
forward to your invaluable support and guidance in our efforts of leading the change AIESEC needs
NOW and most importantly BE the change the world needs today.
Thank You
Aman Jain
President

Global Youth to Business Forum
|
The firstever Global Youth to Business (Y2B) Forum was the pinnacle
event of AIESEC’s annual International Congress on August 25, 2009. We are pleased to report that
it was a great success.
Over 500 delegates joined with thousands over virtual participants to
engage with over 50 corporate leaders from 5 continents. These discussions harvested a
forward-thinking global youth stand on the topics Entrepreneurship in the Crisis, Climate Change
& Sustainability and Labour Mobility & Diversity.
Attending corporate delegates were incredibly impressed with the
sophistication and global mindset of the membership, and expressed interest in continuing their
involvement with AIESEC especially in the Y2B Forum next year in India for International Congress
2010.
AIESEC International is currently compiling the output harvested to
produce a final published document. If you would like more information on the 2009 event in
Malaysia or are interested in participating at Y2B 2010 in India, please contact Ruthie Garelik,
ruthieg@ai.aiesec.org. We welcome your
contributions and participation.

TAP Comeback and Meeting Sept 22nd
|
Wow!! That was inspiring, busy, old-fashioned-@, cultural understanding, interesting,
challenging, fun and fantastic!
During our fact finding mission to Tanzania we…
…advised the United Nations on their private sector partnership strategy
…visited and gained insight in the business and MDG efforts of Tanga Fresh, Tanzanian
Breweries Ltd, Philips Healthcare, NMB Bank and D.light.
…inspired local AIESEC alumni by organizing the second edition of the MDG Dragons' Den! A
huge success!
At the moment we are...
...working out how we can further engage AIESEC & alumni to change the world!
...working on possible follow up cooperation with United Nations Volunteers.
...inspiring our own companies to join (ATOS is already in discussion with UNV!).
...exploring our contribution to the ‘ontwikkelingssamenwerking.nu’ event on September 26th.
…further developing the MDG Dragons’ Den in the Netherlands with NCDO and with AIESEC &
UN in Kenya (planned in February next year)!
What are you doing?!?
We are eager to hear your developments!
We hope to invite you to the www.ontwikkelingssamenwerking.nu event...
Are you interested to take this further in TAP 2 (too)? What’s your ambition?!?
Are you ready to continue on this journey? We are!
Yours truly,
TAP team

Ever wished you could interact with the locals and immerse yourself in the culture of the place
you've traveled to? Then weekeego (http://weekeego.com) may be your answer. Founded
by two AIESEC alumni from Portugal, weekeego helps you keep that AIESEC spirit alive by
participating in your vacation rather than being a passive spectator. You could relocate turtle
eggs in Ghana, or build water wells in South Africa or even hunt with indigenous tribes in the
Amazon. The idea is to give you a deeper experience of the community by involving you in activities
that are unique to the location you have chosen.
Since weekeego was born following the dream of two AIESEC alumni of continuing striving for
a world where cultural differences are valued, respected and promoted, weekeego would like to offer
special opportunities for alumni to experience its authentic journeys and reconnect with the
essence of our dreams while in AIESEC. Weekeego will be offering special rates and travel support
for groups of alumni, alumni reunions, or alumni associations that want to plan a meeting.

Joseph Willie Eshun: I am an AIESEC alumnus
AIESEC in Ghana Alumnus and Global Hall of Fame Inductee

"Seven years as BOA member for AIESEC in Tanzania, Joe shaped AIESEC both by providing
opportunities for members as well as supporting the organization in its strategic direction, the
incredible contribution that made us proud today!."
- Peter Alex,Director
– Alumni Relations, AIESEC in Tanzania
|
Joseph Eshun has been contributing to the success of AIESEC ever since he joined AIESEC in
1989.
Joseph identified strongly with what AIESEC stood for and was determined to devote a lot to the
organization, spending five years developing Ghanaian youth in his local committee. During
his term as a president of AIESEC in Ghana, the country was announced best performing in the
African region. In 1993, Joseph was selected to be part of the AIESEC International board, where he
served as a director of Africa and as Vice President Finance. His internship in Kenya was the start
of his career in the audit and professional services, where he managed to grow to a Partner of
Deloitte for East Africa in less than 10 years.
Throughout his fast- paced career, Joseph has always found time to support AIESEC in any way
possible. Being a member of the National Advisory Board of AIESEC in Tanzania, where he currently
lives, he has been providing advisory and mentoring support to at least 6 generations of leadership
of AIESEC Tanzania. His contribution to AIESEC ranges from providing trainings to the membership,
to raising internship positions and financial partnerships for AIESEC. In addition to the
contributions from Deloitte, he has been making personal donations to AIESEC for more than five
years now and just recently supported financially the representation of Tanzania at the AIESEC
International Presidents Meeting. Joseph was also the one, who made possible the first AIESEC
alumni event in Tanzania.
Joseph’s strive to support the local community extends beyond his involvement in AIESEC – he was
selected as the Chairman of the selection committee for the Human Rights Commissioners of Tanzania
in 2008 and is also currently responsible for the management of a $56 million HIV/AIDS program on
behalf of USAID and the Government of Tanzania.
