Two months in Hungary
I arrived on Friday the 9th of July and it was a long adventure before I could finally rest at my flat.
I was staying in this city in the North East of Hungary near the Romanian border, Debrecen (but unfortunately I couldn't go there because Hungarian visa only takes you to Hungary and nowhere else; they joined the EU but are not in Schengen agreement yet).
Before leaving home to the airport, I thought of checking my email one last time and it turned out to be a good decision as I found an email sent just minutes before where Aiesecers tell me that nobody would be waiting for me at the airport and they wrote me some instructions on how to get a taxi to the train station (from there I would take the train to Debrecen).
My parents tend to freak out in such situations so I decided not to tell them about all of this and I wrote the details calmly on a piece a paper (that I still have as I am writing this report) and went to the airport.
So to cut it short, I left Cairo airport at 4:25 a.m. (25 minutes late, as always) and arrived at Budapest airport at 6:30 a.m.
You must keep in mind that nobody there and I mean nobody (at all) speaks anything but "Magyar", so you can understand my frustration then. Anyway, I managed to exchange some money into Forints (and it's the kind of currency that have a lot of coins which I really hate because I keep loosing those) and to leave the airport to the train station not without some difficulty. By the way the Aiesecers' instructions didn’t turn out to be very helpful.
Finally reaching the train station, I
booked a ticket to Debrecen and had to "relax" for two hours waiting for my train. It was one of
those terrible summer days and the humidity was at top performance and, as to make my day even more
"fun", the AC on the train was off and of course the windows are the kind you cannot open.
I had this huge bag with me and I had to move it from the passage every time someone would
like to take a walk around the wagon so I couldn't sleep (it had been by then 24 hours since I last
rested my back).
