Microsoft is one of the world's largest software companies. It develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of software products for computing devices. Headquartered in Redmond, Washington, USA, its most popular products are the Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office. 

Microsoft and AIESEC have been partners for many years in a number of countries around the world. In 2001 Microsoft joined the Sustainability Partner Group of AIESEC International and started supporting the global sustainability initiative. In 2004, Microsoft provided 7 internship opportunities mostly in various Community Affairs roles. In 2005, the number of internships grew to 11 and Microsoft and AIESEC ran a series of on-line dialogues focused on the role of technology in human development.

In 2006 Microsoft became a Global Exchange Partner of AIESEC offering 16 internships across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The Global Partnership was launched at the International Congress 2006 in Poland.
