AIESEC celebrates 60th Anniversary at "Business Leaders in ASEAN Summit" in Jakarta

  Jakarta, June 14th 2008 - Indonesian business leaders, practitioners and entrepreneurs gathered in Jakarta to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of AIESEC in Business Leaders in ASEAN Summit at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta.

The event is held to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of AIESEC globally and attended by 60 AIESEC alumni, business practitioners, entrepreneurs and university students including AIESEC members.

 

Started of with a roundtable networking session in the morning with fellow businessmen and partners, the event created an atmosphere among the participants to start creating initiative to bring the region forwards. As James D. Filgo, one of the participants and Treasurer of AmCham Indonesia, said, "The initiative to go ASEAN need to initiated by the business and young people!".

 

Headlining Hermawan Kartajaya, the Asia's leading marketing strategist, through his session, "Think ASEAN!", the summit reveals the strength of South East Asia regions and the opportunities to capture. Hermawan Kartajaya, many times in his session emphasized the relevance of AIESEC in the nowadays community.

 

The session then followed by a talk show about "Business Practices in ASEAN" by Professor Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, Mr. John V. Rangam (Director of Potentia HR), Mr. Alexander Yahya Datuk (from Indonesia Young Entrepreneurs Association) and host by Mr. Fajar Aziz from CPP. Black Canyon Coffee Indonesia, represented by Mr. Mufid Wahyudi as the President Director and Mrs. Pop Mulhadi as the owner, ended the summit through sharing the success stories in expanding the franchise of Black Canyon Coffee, the giant retail coffee chain from Thailand.

 

The 60th Anniversary dinner celebration is attended by 30 alumni from Indonesia and other countries. Achmad Budiman, one of the Supervisory Groups member and founder of one of the local committees, shared that AIESEC Indonesia achievement this year has been tremendous and he hoped that the event will be a starting point for AIESEC alumnus to keep supporting AIESEC Indonesia to grow.

AIESEC Global Exchange Program

Exchange is the most intense learning experience that we offer and links together our global network. Each year, we provide over 3,500 members the challenging opportunity to live and work in a foreign country in areas of management, information technology, education, and development.
Steps to the process:
  • Selection and Application –After joining and understanding AIESEC you can enter a review process to assess your experiences and motivation for doing an AIESEC exchange.

  • Preparation–AIESEC provides resources, trainings and support to prepare you to live and work in another country. This includes visa processing.

  • Matching - You will trained and given access to use our on-line database of jobs. The more flexible you are the better.

  • Integration – AIESEC members in your host chapter provide support and assistance in getting setup while providing opportunities for cultural and social activities.

  • Re-Integration – AIESEC supports you in making the readjustment process when you return home.


Types of Exchanges:

  • Management – traineeships related to administration, finance, accounting, marketing, project management and HR.

  • Development – usually with NGOs, traineeships usually relate to wide variety of issues in community development.

  • Technical – traineeships relate to management and development in web, software, networks, and databases, plus some engineering.

  • Education – traineeships relate to promotion, curriculum development, teaching, and counseling in education sector.
